Facebook Fan Friday – Meet Julie Labes
I’m pleased and honored to name Julie Labes as my first Facebook Fan of the week. This is a new feature I am adding to my Facebook Page, A Picture’s Worth. I want to acknowledge Ann Evanston of Warrior-Preneur who originated the idea and Louise Evanston of Lou Loves Learning! who named me her Facebook Fan of the week and reminded me how nice it is to recognize a fan for supporting you.
I’ve gotten to know Julie over the past several months through our participation in the Social Networking Coaching Club. We did a 30 day challenge together and continue to support each other in our social networking activities. We share a love of travel and after reading her answers I know I picked the right person for my first fan of the week. Meet Julie:
What are you passionate about?
I am a loyal friend and a fierce protector of my friends and family. I get upset at parents who do stupid things like “not strap their babies into car seats, or allow them to eat and drink everything they want, no matter how unhealthy. I also get angry at Government waste spending, and the way our society undervalues the people who do the “real” work that keeps this country running. Teachers! These are some of the things I am passionate about.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why? What one question would you ask?
Wow this is a tough one. I feel as though I should pick someone who really made a difference in the world and ask them something really profound. Truth is though I would like to meet my Dad again one more time. He passed away about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t ask though, I would tell. I would tell him how much I loved him and that I am the Woman, the Wife, the Friend and the Mom I am today because of him and my Mom. And I would thank him.
What is your favorite song? What memory does it invoke?
I am a huge Genesis fan and have been since the 1970s. My favorite song is Carpet Crawlers” by Genesis. No matter where I lived or travelled throughout my life, I took their music with me and listened to it often. If I was sad, it would cheer me, If I was lonely, It would remind me of friends so this song does not just invoke one memory, it invokes the memories of my entire life.
What is your dream vacation destination? Have you been there yet? If yes, tell me about it. If no, how will you plan to make your dream real?
Well I lived 7 years in a seaside town called Glyfada just outside of Athens Greece and got to visit many of the Greek Islands. I also spent time in Switzerland so I have been very lucky to have been able to actually live in some beautiful places. I would love to visit Tahiti and stay in one of those huts out on the water. I am hoping my travel business will one day allow me to go there
What do you want people to know about you?
I would like people to know that I am originally from Yorkshire UK. The oldest of 4 kids. I consider myself very down to earth and well grounded, what you see is what you get, no nonsense type of woman who is honest, trustworthy, and generally a good, kind, and caring person. I am a mom of two great kids. Philip is 17 and a theater major. He also writes and sings his own songs. Rachael is 13 and a great story writer. I have been married 20 years this month to David. We met and married in Athens, Greece where we were both living and teaching. I have traveled and visited many countries and I have also lived in Yorkshire, London, Switzerland, Greece and the USA.
What do you want people to know about your business?
I own a full service online travel booking engine and e-commerce (online shopping mall) which basically means I get paid to shop online.
Because I am also a broker with the company, I am able to offer these same websites free to anyone who would like to have their own online travel store and mall. This is great for anyone who shops online as they can then receive cash back from all their favorite stores like Walmart, Target, Sears Lowes etc. And of course if they book their own travel through their own site then they make the travel commissions. I also recruit and train anyone who may be interested in selling the broker license.

Louise Eddington. Meet Julie Labes
My new Lou Loves Learning! Facebook Fan of the Week for the Holidays (I’m taking a break next week) is a woman I met through doing Cultural Care AuPair’s version of Ann Evanston’s Social Networking Coaching Club. We are both growing our businesses using online strategies as Ann teaches (and I’m now blogging coach on the course!). As I have got to know Julie I have found her to be one of the funniest women I have ever met. She’s a fellow British Expat and her dry British humor makes me giggle on a daily basis. I hope many of you will take the time to also get to know Julie and her humor. She brightens my day every day ![]()
